A HIGH-FLYING Luton Sixth Form College student has been awarded not one but two essay prizes.
Imre Bartal, who has been offered a place at University College London, received both the college’s politics prize and a prize from the University of Chester.
He was presented with the politics prize of £50 and a copy of Ben Dupre’s review of modern political philosophy, ’50 Political Ideas’, by retiring college principal Simon Kitchener, after impressing the judges with his “probing analysis” of issues relating to Scottish independence.
John Ramm, head of social sciences, said there had been a particularly large number of quality entries this year and that Imre’s was “as stylish and well informed as any in the prize’s history”.
He was then awarded the David W. Smith Memorial Prize of £100 by the University of Chester for his essay on food insecurity in developing countries.
