A STUDENT was stabbed in the chest and arms after he was attacked in what is thought to have been an attempted robbery in broad daylight on Tuesday.

The incident happened shortly before 3pm in Essex Close, New Town, in Luton as the victim was about to get in his car which was parked in the close.

Police say the victim had begun to feel uncomfortable as he thought he was being followed by two men who approached him and begun a conversation.

Fearing he was about to be robbed, the student got into his vehicle and sat on his laptop – he was then stabbed.

The man was taken to the Luton & Dunstable Hospital for treatment to what are thought not to be life threatening injuries.

The scene was cordoned off on Tuesday afternoon while scenes of Crime Officers attended the scene and completed forensics and door-to-door enquiries.

Officers searched the area for the perpetrators but no arrests have been made.

The officer in charge of the investigation, Det Sgt Louisa Glynn, is keen to trace anyone who may have information relating to the two men responsible for this incident.

The first offender is described as a short white man with ginger unkempt hair aged around 18 years old and wearing a blue jumper and black jogging bottoms.

The second attacker is described as a dark skinned black or Asian man who was taller than the first offender but also around 18 years old and wearing a black hooded top with Jamaican colours gold and blue stripes on it.

Det Sgt Glynn said: “This incident happened in broad daylight and the victim has had to undergo hospital treatment but is now recovering. I would appeal to anyone who saw two men matching the descriptions given in the area on Monday afternoon to contact the police.”

Anyone with information about this incident should contact Det Sgt Glynn on 01582 473273, or Beds Police on 101, or text information to 07786 200011 or contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
