Another academic year full of wonderful achievements was celebrated at Luton Sixth Form College.
Students past and present, along with proud family members and guests, attended the college’s annual awards evening on December 17.
A total of 145 awards were given out on the night. These included accolades honouring hard work and commitment in each teaching department, contribution to college and community life, and outstanding exam results in the 2013/14 academic year.
Special awards were also presented, including scholarships and prizes from the Universities of Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire.
The Principal’s Award for Outstanding Achievement was won by Bijal Jethwa, who overcame significant personal adversity to achieve success during her time at college.
The Chair of Governors’ Award for Outstanding Student of the Year 2014 – given for academic achievement and for making a significant contribution to college life – was presented to Molly Beddow.
Principal Chris Nicholls said the students collecting awards were “an inspiration” to everyone.
Addressing the audience, he said: “Let’s remember that we are celebrating the achievements of the young people of Luton.
“It is great to see parents, friends and representatives of schools here. You have all helped these young people to succeed and so we can truly celebrate their success together.”
