A charity match in memory of a woman who died in September has raised more than £750.
The husband of Deborah Gilmore (pictured), who died of cancer at the age of 54, took part in the charity football match at Lewsey Park on Saturday.
The match was organised by Johnathan Barnett and Chris McCool of Sporting St John’s Football Club and John Mcloughlin of Lewsey Park.
Deborah’s husband Steve Gilmore played for the Celtic Football Club and Lewsey Football Club and he and his two sons also played in the charity match.
Present and ex-players came out of retirement to support the game.
After the match at the club, money was raised through football cards and the bucket also went round.
On Deborah’s fundraising page for Great Ormond Street husband Steve says: “Deborah loved children and she had a real connection with them.Her grandson was so important to her and she just knew how to be with children.
“I know that choosing to support Great Ormond Street Hospital would be the right thing to do in her memory.
Please help me help children in Deborah’s name, as much or as little you can give is very much appreciated.”
