Macmillan staff took on an Active Luton exercise group for people affected by cancer in a game of walking football.

The Move More programme, run by Active Luton, Luton & Dunstable University Hospital and Macmillan Cancer Support, is aimed at improving physical and mental wellbeing of those suffering or recovering from the disease.

Walking football is a slow-paced adaptation of the game that does not allow running or jogging.

The Active Luton exercise group was narrowly beaten 10-7 by the Macmillan team.

Luton’s former boxing champion Billy Schwer, an ambassador for the Move More programme, attended the match.

He said: “I feel proud to be able to support such a fantastic programme.

“I believe that a combination of physical, mental and nutritional health will aid prevention and recovery of any disease.

“This programme gives the tools to help people fight against cancer.”
