Roll up for station bake off

Peckish passengers will be treated to home-made cakes on Friday morning, specially baked by Luton rail staff in a mouth-watering fundraiser for Keech Hospice Care.

They’ll also be in the running for a Luton Town Football Club shirt signed by the team as well as 15 free tickets to the Grimsby match on April 13.

First Capital Connect station manager Joe Healy and his colleagues will be manning the stall on the concourse from 7am to 11am.

He said: “Everyone’s taking part – donating eggs, flour and other ingredients while eight of us are doing the baking.”

Joe’s 11-year-old daughter is part of the team. “Fortunately she’s very capable at that sort of thing while I’d just end up burning them all,” Joe joked.

The signed Luton shirt comes with five tickets to the Grimsby match.

There are 10 further tickets up for grabs for the match and free first class tickets anywhere for a family of four with First Capital Connect.

FCC spokesman Roger Perkins said: “Keech helps patients enjoy the highest quality of life while also providing vital support for family and friends.

“It’s one of only a handful of UK organisations offering adult and children’s services on the same site.”

Caring station staff had a similar charity bake-off last year in aid of the Multiple Sclerosis Society,
