Four men were arrested for the murder of teenager Delaney Brown in dawn raids in Luton and Bedford this morning (November 7).
The men, aged 20, 18, 18, and 17, were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder the 19 year old, who died on September 5 in Vincent Road, Leagrave, after being struck by a silver 1 series BMW.
Four other men aged 22, 19, 18 and 17 have already been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.
They were due to answer bail today and are being questioned by detectives from Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit.
DCI Steve Collin from the Major Crime Unit said: “We are making real progress with this case but I still need people to come forward and put what they know down on paper. People clearly have information about who was driving the silver BMW that was used to kill Delaney, they now need to do the right thing and speak to the police.”
Officers are continuing to trace witnesses and seek information relating to Delaney’s death and attempts to trace a young woman with two children who was pushing a buggy along Vincent Road at the time of the incident also continue.
Enquiries have established that on hearing the collision she ran to help, possibly speaking on the phone to paramedics. Anyone who knows her, or the woman herself, is urged to contact the police.
Delaney Brown’s grandfather, Delaney Brown Snr, made an emotional appeal for witnesses to come forward at a Bedfordshire Police press conference.
He said at the conference: “Delaney was loved by his family and was very special to us all. We don’t pretend he was perfect. We know that he was not. But he was a son, brother and grandson and he dearly mattered to us.”
