A LUTON man was assaulted with a golf club in his own home by a gang of men who demanded money.

The incident happened in Hitchin Road on Friday December 23 at around 11.15pm when the victim was awoken by the group of men.

The offenders, who are all described as wearing grey balaclavas and as being of white or Asian appearnace.

They left the 27-year-old victim’s home empty handed.

The victim was taken to the Luton & Dunstable Hospital for treatment for severe bruising.

Investigating officer Det Con Colin Knight said: “This was a frightening experience for the victim who shares the house with two friends who were also woken by the disturbance. Hitchin Road is a busy area of the town even at night and members of the public who may have been out that night could have seen a group of men matching the description. These people may hold vital information that could help this investigation and I would urge them to contact the police.”
