VULNERABLE households with residents whose health is put at risk by cold weather will benefit from government funding to keep them warm this winter.
Luton Borough Council received a £74,060 grant for Project Warm Shield, whch will involve emergency repairs on boilers, installation of draught-proofing measures and loaning out radiators to the neediest of households.
Trained energy advisors will work with residents who find it difficult to pay their gas and electricity bills and funding will be used to run a general awareness campaign on winter warmth for everyone.
