POLICE have warned residents to beware following reports of an aggressive beggar targeting elderly residents.
The latest incident happened yesterday (Thursday August 2) when the man knocked on a resident’s door in Burford Close and asked for a lift to Stockingstone Road.
The resident eventually agreed and during the journey the man begged £60 from her before leaving the vehicle.
The man is described as a short man of Asian appearance, in his mid 40s with a slim build and a gold tooth.
He wore dark denim jeans, a dark grey hooded top, black baseball cap and white trainers.
Sgt Ruth Connelly said: “This man appears to target elderly residents and gives them a sob story before they hand over their cash. We’re trying to piece together exactly what this person has been up to and we need to speak to anyone who has handed money over to this person or anyone who has given him a lift recently.
“This information is vital to the investigation and I would appeal to anyonewho has found themselves in this position to come forward and speak to the police.”
Anyone with information about this man should contact Sgt Connelly on 01582 394418, Beds Police on 101 or send a text message to 07786 200011.
