FIRE crews tackled a blaze at the old Drill Hall site in High Town this morning.
Firefighters were called to Old Bedford Road shortly before 6am after reports of a fire.
Crews feared that the roof of the building was ‘asbestos based’ but those fears were unfounded.
Three fire engines and an emergency response unit attended the scene with an aerial platform also used to tackle the blaze.
A section of Old Bedford Road was closed to traffic this morning but has now been reopened.
