A COURT will decide today whether former Luton South MP Margaret Moran is fit to stand trial for alleged expenses fraud.
A judge at Lewes Crown Court in East Sussex will hear psychiatric reports, and will set a trial date if it is decided the case can proceed.
She faces 15 charges of false accounting and six of using a false instrument in relation to parliamentary expense claims totalling around £80,000 between November 2004 and August 2008.
At a previous hearing, her solicitor said a trial would be “a threat to her life”.
A spokesman for the Crown Prosecution Service said this morning that Ms Moran did not have to attend today’s hearing.
