A BEDFORDSHIRE volunteer service has been handed a £37,500 grant from the Health Lottery.
The WRVS Good Neighbours Scheme Bedfordshire has benefitted from a chunk of £1,561,658 raised by health lottery players.
The funding will support the development of the WRVS’ Good Neighbours Scheme in Bedfordshire, through which volunteers will arrange social clubs, outings and lunches, community transport, books on wheels, collecting pensions, being around when workmen or officials visit or just stopping by and having a chat.
Jeremy Muller, Director of HealthCommit said: “We are delighted to be able to show players where their money is being spent on health related good causes in their area. It is this very local connection that makes the society lotteries so strong and appealing to players. Through the Health Lottery brand we look forward to raising more money in the East of England.”
