UP-and-coming darlings of the Manchester indie scene The Janice Graham Band are the latest in a string of talented, and sometimes high profile, acts to take to the stage at Charlie Browns next week.
The four piece ska/soul band, who have drawn comparisons to The Specials, The Coral and The Happy Mondays, are to appear at the Midland Road venue next Friday (April 27).
The band are described as a group of “funkateers” in a quote from Stone Roses and Primal Scream bassist Mani and, he says, they will “make the North rise again” musically.
No advance tickets are available, but entry on the night, which kicks off at 8pm, costs £6.
Hot on the heels of The Janice Graham Band comes another indie rock outfit, The Moons, who perform at Charlie Browns on May 25.
The band are from a little closer to home, Northampton to be precise, and include Andy Crofts, a session keyboard player for Paul Weller.
In fact the self-styled Modfather himself has penned a tune for the band’s latest album.
The five-piece supported former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher’s new band Beady Eye on tour in October and took to the stage at Glastonbury last summer.
Entry to see The Moons costs £7 with the gig starting at 8pm.
The two bands follow in the footsteps of bands such as The Twang, Carl Barat, Ocean Colour Scene and Babyshambles in playing at the Luton venue.
Entry to see the Janice Graham Band and The Moons is for over 18s only.
