THE number of passengers using the Centrebus services in and around Luton is steadily rising.

Passenger figures rose by about 44 per cent between February 2011 and February 2012, with a further 21 per cent increase between February and March.

This is a surge rarely seen by Centrebus on a group of services in such a short period of time.

Spokesperson Gemma Holt said: “We are surprised and delighted by the recent passenger count on our Luton buses. We pride ourselves on providing a wide-ranging set of travel options within Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire, with attractions such as Hatfield House and Park, Welwyn Garden City Golf Course, and Marsh Farm’s Great Bramingham Wood made accessible through our services. Now we just can’t wait for summer to roll on in!”

The most travelled routes around Luton include the 10 to Marsh Farm, the 17 and 19 to Wigmore and Crawley Green, the 366 to Harpenden, Welwyn Garden City and Hatfield and the X31 which is as far reaching as Leighton Buzzard, Hemel Hempstead, Flitwick, Dunstable and Milton Keynes.
