A LUTON company has handed over the one millionth water meter to a valued customer.
Elster Metering, in Camford Way, Sundon Park, handed over the landmark meter to Anglian Water on Wednesday.
Elster’s design and manufacturing base in Luton is the birthplace of polymer bodied water meters.
Elster shipped its first V200/V210 unit from the factory in 2009.
Paul Glass, project manager for Anglian Water, said: “Anglian Water is impressed with the innovative V210 polymer volumetric water meter and we look forward to our continued relationship with Elster which has been developed over many years of outstanding customer service.”
Anglian Water, which last week started a hosepipe ban for domestic customers, supplies more than six million domestic and business customers in the east of England with water and wastewater services.
Jerry Lauzze, executive vice president of Elster’s global water business, said: “Elster’s polymer bodied water meters not only provide customers with highly accurate measurement of water consumption, but also help them to achieve their environmental objectives of reducing carbon emissions throughout the supply chain.”
