A BUSY thoroughfare in the centre of Luton is to shut for four months so that work can take place on the Luton Dunstable Busway.
From Monday (April 9), Guildford Street will be closed between Mill Street and Bridge Street, at the rear of the Galaxy Centre, so that a new junction can be built.
The level of the street needs to be raised up by more than two metres for the construction of the junction, which will link the busway with the new station interchange.
The 200-metre stretch of Guildford Street will be closed to both traffic and pedestrians, and diversions will direct motorists around the inner ring road.
Access to premises including the Galaxy, Luton Central Library and Blood Donor Centre will be maintained via Library Road.
