THE LAUNCH of iSing2Win got off to an amazingly successful start at Luton’s Riverside Conference Centre when two homeless people – part of the target market – joined the initial workshop.
The project was created by Leagrave singing teacher Dionne Wilks, 40, to provide easily accessible singing sessions for disadvantaged and under-represented sectors of the community.
She said: “They thoroughly enjoyed the experience and surprised themselves with how much they got out of their voices.”
It has taken Dionne two years to turn her not-for-profit dream into reality.
She said: “Everyone can sing – no special equipment is required.
“It builds confidence and makes you feel happy. It’s cross cultural, creative and empowering.
“It can combat depression, improve concentration and increase energy.”
“It can help people play a positive role in the community.”
The launch was attended by various VIPs including Luton North MP Kelvin Hopkins.
