SCHOOLCHILDREN in Luton had a taste of three Paralympic sports yesterday.
Pupils from Leagrave Primary School, Chantry Primary and Whitefield Primary paid a visit to Barnfield West Academy to take part in the Sainsbury’s I million Kids Challenge, aimed at encouraging young people of all abilities to experience Paralympic sport in the run-up to the Games later this year.
To take part, the schools, were sent a Paralympic sports kit by Sainsbury’s Bramingham store. The kit contains equipment for three Paralympic sports for pupils to take part in: goalball, sitting volleyball and visually-impaired football.
During their visit to the school, Sainsbury’s Bramingham Park staff helped pupils take part in blind football.
Sainsbury’s Bramingham Park store manager Glen Sharpe said: “My team are really looking forward to visiting the school and helping pupils take part in a Paralympic sport. Sainsbury’s is proud to be sponsors of the 2012 Paralympic Games and it’s fantastic to know that seven schools have signed up to the challenge in Luton. We’d like to wish good luck to all our local schools taking part and hope they have fun as well as well as help raise awareness of the Paralympic Games.”.
