The death of a three-year-old in Dunstable Road in Luton was a tragic accident, a coroner has ruled.
Mayah Alleyah Shazad died when she ran out into the road in Bury Park on August 8 last year after letting go of a relative’s hand and was hit by a bus.
Yesterday, at an inquest into the little girl’s death at Ampthill, senior coroner Tom Osborne ruled the cause of death as a road traffic collision.
His comments were that she was a pedestrian who walked out in front of a bus, with no blame partitioned to any party.
In Dunstable Road, flowers still hang on a lamppost close to where the tragedy took place.
Mayah’s death made a huge mark on the community. A public meeting about the accident was held at Dallow Road Community Centre on September 1, and protesters carried banners bearing her image in the Luton 4 Justice march on January 11.
