Would you like to be a councillor in Luton? On May 7, electors will get their chance to influence the way in which the town is run for the next four years.

On the same day as the general election, all 48 seats on Luton Borough Council will be up for election across Luton’s 19 wards.

As usual it is expected that there will be a large number of candidates, not only from the mainstream political parties but also from smaller political groups and also independents.

Do you want to shape the way your town develops? Could you make a difference in your community?

Luton Borough Council is holding a Prospective Councillor Evening at Luton Town Hall, Upper George Street. on Wednesday February 18 from 6-8pm.

Hosted by the Council’s Chief Executive and Returning Officer Trevor Holden, also on hand to answer questions will be staff from the democratic services team.

Mr Holden said: “This is a chance to learn more about what it is like to be a local councillor, and to give prospective candidates a better understanding of how the Council works, the role and expected conduct.

“I would encourage anyone who is prepared to take on the challenge and who is thinking about standing as a candidate in the Luton local elections to attend this informative briefing session.”
