Chantry Primary Academy in Luton took some pupils to London to visit the Sky Skills Studio.

The Sky Academy offers schoolchildren a behind the scenes tour of the production studios to see how live TV is broadcast.

Throughout the day they had to write, direct, record and edit a news report using the technology at the studio.

They were split into four groups and each group had the responsibility of getting a separate part of the final report ready.

Jamie Kelly, assistant headteacher, said: “The end result was fantastic and the children loved seeing their hard work pay off by producing an informative news report about natural disasters.

“It was a great day. One of the groups met Thierry Henry, who was filming a Sky Sports segment. Some of Sky’s aims were to promote team-work, communication and problem-solving, something that definitely happened.”

One parent said: “My daughter enjoyed it, she had a really good day. It was great that she got to meet Thierry Henry.

“The trips the school take them on are really good.”
