Two friends are taking part in the Budapest to Bamako Rally this month to raise money for Make-A-Wish foundation and the charity CRY (Care and Relief for the Young).

Tim Morris, of Warmark Farm, lost his cousin Digby Davidson to Leukaemia in 2013 and he is his inspiration to do the challenge.

Digby was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia in June 2010 when he was just 12 and after three years of fighting it, he lost his battle in July 2013.

The 22-year-old will be doing the challenge with his friend Jake Scanes, of Wingfield, they have both always been passionate about cars and off road racing.

Mr Morris said: “It is something I have always wanted to do, it will be an adventure of a lifetime.

“I am a bit nervous but really looking forward to it and it is for two great charities.”

The pair have had a lot of help preparing the 4x4 for the rally from Engineering Solution Ltd, based in Leighton Buzzard.

They will be driving 500-600 kilometres on a daily basis, in total they will be doing around 9000km through 10 countries.

The money will be split between the two charities.

Tim added: “When my cousin died it hit me hard that someone so young with their whole life ahead of them could die so young.

“It made me realise how lucky I am to be healthy and happy.

“I really feel that through doing this adventure me and Jake can make a difference for kids who are really struggling and are not so fortunate as ourselves.

“We will be raising money for the Make-A-Wish foundation, they really help children and young people aged between 3 and 17 living with life threatening illnesses by granting them wishes.

“We will also be raising money for the charity CRY, it is a Christian charity dedicated to caring for suffering children, young people and their families.”

They are hoping to raise £2000, to donate, visit: http://tinyurl.com/poswpkc
