Four teenage boys have been arrested on suspicion of GBH after an OAP was viciously attacked in Wardown Park.
The boys, two aged 14 and two aged 15, were arrested over the weekend.
The arrests were in connection with an assault on a 78-year-old man who suffered serious head injuries, including a fractured jaw, after being attacked while walking his dog in the park near the lake on the afternoon of Saturday December 6.
He remains in hospital.
Three of the boys, two aged 15 and one 14, are due to answer bail on Wednesday (December 17), while the other 14 year old has been bailed until January 28.
Detective Inspector Dani Fitzharris said: “We understand the park was busy at the time of the assault and would appeal to anyone who saw what happened to call police.
“I would also urge anyone who may have information about the attack, but has not yet come forward, to please do so.”
Anyone with any information should call DI Fitzharris on 101, text information to 07786 200011 or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
