The University of Bedfordshire approved funding for five projects at last week’s Dragons’ Den event.

A total of £55k from the Vice Chancellor’s Steps fund will go towards starting up the projects.

One of the most popular ideas was an International Short Film Festival, put forward by an MA Creative Digital Film Production student Tasos Giapoutzis.

Members of the business school proposed a competition for entrepreneurs from the university, as well as the introduction of a yearbook available to all students from the faculty.

Another project that received full backing from the panel was a two-day conference for healthcare students, hosted by the university’s aspiring nurses.

All the projects were pitched to a team of ‘dragons’, made up of Vice Chancellor Bill Rammell, Bedfordshire Students’ Union’s Charlie Hughes, Associate Dean of Health and Social Sciences, the director of Teaching and Learning and the director for Student Experience.
