A Barnfield West Academy student got to meet the Mayor of London Boris Johnson as part of a programme by UpRising.
UpRising is a UK-wide youth leadership development organisation that aims to open pathways for young people from diverse and under-represented backgrounds.
Rohan Taneja, of Old Bedford Road, attended an event in Bedford and met the Mayor, as part of a programme, My Voice My Vote.
The 16-year-old said: “Boris Johnson was the guest of honour, I was really looking forward to meeting him as he is a famous politician.
“As he walked through the doors there was a lot of excitement, everyone wanted to shake his hand and talk to him, he was very relaxed and happy to interact with everyone around him
“It was a great experience for me and it was great to meet him and have a conversation with him.
“I was very lucky to have been able to have this opportunity.”
As part of the UpRising programme Rohan has been using social media to try and encourage young people to get involved with voting.
