Inquiries into the murder of a Luton father-of-three are becoming “more and more difficult” with potential witnesses still reluctant to speak to police, a senior officer has told the Luton News.
Paul Foster, 46, was shot in the chest after leaving a friend’s home in Brunel Road, Lewsey Farm, on April 9 2013– with the shooter and weapon yet to be found.
Since his death police have arrested three people on suspicion of murder, but all suspects were released after questioning.
Detectives have said that a ‘no snitching’ culture has prevented witnesses from coming forward, despite a £10,000 reward for information on offer.
At a pre-inquest hearing on Monday, Detective Sergeant Sam Khanna advised senior coroner Tom Osborne that a full inquest would not interrupt the ongoing investigation into Mr Foster’s death.
Following the hearing DS Khanna told the Luton News that a recent new witness has provided a line of enquiry, though information is still sparse.
He said: “Unfortunately nothing has changed, people who came forward changed their stance and haven’t given us the information and evidence we need to take the matter forward.
“It is becoming more and more difficult but we are still determined.
“The family want this matter dealt with and they are getting fairly despondent with people not talking to us.”
A year to the day after the shooting family member Delaney Brown Snr made a passionate appeal for witnesses to come forward, telling the Luton News that “there are several people in the community who know who pulled the trigger.”
