Beech Hill pupils lay poppy wreath

Beech Hill Primary school took some year six pupils to the Remembrance service at Luton’s War Memorial on Tuesday, November 11.

The pupils have been writing poems in class, from a soldiers perspective, they read them at the service with the help of children’s author Peter J Murray.

Each year group made a poppy wreath and the year six pupils bought theirs to place on the War Memorial.

Deputy head teacher, Coral Campion, said: “Beech Hill Primary pupils have made some wonderful poppy wreaths that are on display in the school.

“We are very proud of our year 6 pupils who have represented the school to commemorate this special occasion.”

Gary Hawkins, assistant head teacher, said: “We have bought some year 6 pupils down today to commemorate the centenary of the war.

“They did a great job reading their poems that they worked so hard on in class.”
