A stern warning has been issued by Bedfordshire Police after a series of ‘highly dangerous’ air rifle attacks on cars and homes in Lewsey Farm.

From Friday October 17 to Sunday October 19 the windows of a number of vehicles and houses along Ravenhill Way, Kestrel Way and Wheatfield Road were damaged by what police believe to be an air rifle.

Sergeant Ruth Connelly, investigating, said: “We would like to reassure people in the area that we are investigating these incidents fully.

“Our Local Policing teams have increased their patrols in the area and are working with our partners to bring those responsible to justice.

“Even breaking windows with a weapon like an air rifle is highly dangerous and could cause serious injury to anyone in their home or vehicle.

“There’s nothing big about shooting an air rifle, it’s irresponsible and just plain stupid.

“We are concerned because someone with such a disregard for public safety could easily move on to shooting at people with potentially serious consequences for their victims and themselves.

“Such a serious firearm offence could carry a hefty custodian sentence.

“Anyone who was in the area of Ravenshill Way, Kestrel Way and Wheatfield Road late Friday or Saturday evening and saw anyone with an air rifle or acting suspiciously or knows who did this should come forward immediately before it escalates into something more serious.

“We are particularly interested in a small yellow car seen in the area at the time, possibly a mini.”

Anyone with information relating to this incident can contact Sergeant Ruth Connelly, in confidence, at Bedfordshire Police on 101, or text information to 07786 200011.

Alternatively you can contact the independent crime fighting charity, Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
