Free driving course

A free course allowing young drivers across Luton and Central Bedfordshire to improve their driving skills has celebrated its third anniversary. More than 1000 drivers aged 16 to 30 have took part in the course. The courses will run again next month.

The courses are funded b Central Bedfordshire and Luton Borough councils.

They are delivered by highways contractor Amey and are designed to improve their driving knowledge and skills.

More 16 gives 16-year-olds their first driving experience and they will gave the chance to attend theory workshops.

Parents are also given advice about choosing a driving instructor.

More Drive is available for 17-30-year-olds who have already passed their test, it offers the chance ti drive on a skid pan and experience ABS braking systems.

Sara Cannon, who attended the MORE 16 parents’ workshop, said: “Many thanks for providing a well-run and thought-provoking course. Courses like this don’t just happen and there will have been a lot of hard work behind the scenes to give all the participants (young and not so young) a really useful and memorable event.”

Places are now available the More 16 and More Drive courses at Millbrook Proving Ground on Sunday, November 16.

They are on a first-come, first-served basis on receipt of a completer application form, which you can get by emailing roadsafety@luton.gov.uk
