Luton victim in M1 crash

The 36-year-old woman who died after a collision on the M1 last week was from Luton, police have revealed.

Two women who died after the collision on Monday, September 15, have been named as police search for two drivers.

Aneta Bula, 36, of Ridgeway Road, Luton, died at the scene of the collision and Joan Kavanagh, 89, of Ashbourne Road, Derby, died from her injuries the next day.

Six people, three of them elderly, were rushed to the Luton and Dunstable hospital, with serious injuries, following the collision which happened shortly after 5.30am.

The inquest into their deaths will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at Bedfordshire and Luton Coroners Service in Woburn Street, Ampthill.

The incident happened between Junction 11 Luton and Dunstable and Junction 12 Flitwick on the northbound carriageway.

The driver of an Audi, 53, and two women passengers aged 89 and 90 suffered a variety of serious injuries to their ribs, abdomen and spines in the smash.

Police are looking for the drivers of a red car and a white van, who are thought to have been involved in the collision.

The smash led to the M1 northbound being closed for more than nine hours while police investigated the collision.
