A MONTHLY enterprise club has started in Luton to help people move from being unemployed to working for themselves.
The club at the My Incubator, at the Business Centre in Kimpton Road, offers help to work through business ideas, networking, access to professional business advice and support in writing that all-important business plan.
Latest statistics show self-employment is growing in importance in the economy. But Wenta and My Incubator believe there is often a lack of guidance with the start-up process which deters people from getting going as entrepreneurs.
My Incubator advisor Jeremy Green said: “These local Enterprise Clubs are an excellent opportunity for anybody considering self-employment, and the informal environment allows people to ask questions and get valuable advice and guidance with their business idea.
“We also intend to respond to the needs of the club members and have the flexibility to arrange meetings on a range of specific topics of interest such as finance, tax, marketing or legal issues.”
These meetings also offer aspiring entrepreneurs an opportunity to engage and network with others in the same situation.
The clubs are free to attend and are being held on a monthly basis at My Incubators in Luton, Potters Bar and Watford.
My Incubator gives support and access to in-house training as well as office desks.
The provision of Enterprise Clubs is supported by Jobcentre Plus along with Luton, Hertsmere and Watford Borough Councils.
The next Enterprise Club at Kimpton Road will be held from 9.30 to 11am on February 23, with the following one on March 22.
Wenta was founded in 1983 to encourage business start-ups and to support small businesses. It now claims to be the largest enterprise agency in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire and second largest in the eastern region.
