VAUXHALL Motors has awarded €230million of contracts to UK businesses in the last 18 months.
The contracts comprise a mix of supply Vauxhall’s two UK plants in Luton and Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, as well as export to General Motors divisions across the globe.
Bill Parfitt, the former chairman of Vauxhall Motors and the first chairman of the Automotive Council’s Supply Group, said: “Vauxhall is keen to build on the momentum and push for new business with UK suppliers to the benefit of local economies and GM globally who are now increasingly aware of the great potential that resides in the UK.”
Vauxhall said it has awarded contracts on the basis of quality, service, technology and price.
The Automotive Council’s strategy is to ensure the long term strategic development of the UK’s supply chain, which has the potential to boost employment in the UK.
