Building giant Kier is looking for subcontractors, suppliers and tradespeople to help it deliver social housing construction projects in the Hemel Hempstead area.

Initial work will cover aids and adaptations, asbestos removal, bricklaying, electrical, gas maintenance, joinery, lift maintenance, lightening protection, mechanical installations, multi-skilled trades, painting, plastering, plumbing, roofing, scaffolding, smoke and fire detection, stair lifts, and water treatments.

A meet-the-client event is being held at Holiday Inn, Breakspear Way, Hemel Hempstead, on Tuesday (April 23) from 8am to 6pm.

The event is being hosted by government owned pre-qualification certification scheme Constructionline and is looking for people based within 20 miles of Hemel Hempstead to work with them to deliver construction work to the social housing sector in the area.

Claire Makin, business development manager from Constructionline, said: “It is often difficult for local construction companies to have opportunities to get involved with projects of this size. For this reason, it is great to see Kier sourcing local subcontractors, suppliers and trades people to help deliver this project. Hosting events like this is one of the many added-value benefits we provide for construction firms registered with us – we want to help them find and secure work and also make it easier for businesses to find reliable and local construction companies.”

Kier’s regional managing director, Simon Bullen, said; “Kier is a leading provider of maintenance across the country and we will work together with local suppliers and subcontractors to put efficiency, service improvements and customer excellence as our top priorities. Boosting local economies is a key part of our approach and we’re delighted that this project is creating opportunities for local individuals and businesses in Hertfordshire.”

The event is free and registration is advised to avoid disappointment. Contractors should visit the events page at www.constructionline.co.uk
