Detectives say they are keeping an open mind as to why a 46-year-old man was shot and killed in Luton on Tuesday night.

Bedfordshire Police have this morning confirmed the victim was Paul Foster, who was married with children.

Mr Foster was taken to the Luton & Dunstable Hospital just before midnight on Tuesday following an incident outside a house in Brunel Road. He had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and died shortly after arriving at hospital.

Det Supt Jeff Hill, Head of the Major Crime Unit, said: “This shooting happened in a residential street and has understandably left the local community feeling extremely vulnerable, which is why it is vital that people with information about what happened come forward and speak to the police.

He continued: “Paul was a married man with children and his loved ones deserve to see those responsible for his death brought to justice.

“The team of dedicated detectives investigating this case are continuing to keep an open mind as to the reasons why Paul was shot and I would take this opportunity to continue to appeal to members of the community to come forward and speak with officers to help catch those responsible – this is your community and we need your help to make it a safer place for you and your loved ones.”

Witnesses should call the Major Crime Unit on 01707 355959, text information to 07786 200011, or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
