Motorists are warned that Hatters Way will be closed over the next four weekends for essential work on the Luton Dunstable Busway.
The road will be closed between the Dunstable Road and Chaul End Lane junctions, weather conditions permitting.
The closures will take place on April 13-14, April 20-21, April 27-28 and June 4-5 from 5am on Saturdays until no later than 10pm on Sundays.
A council spokesperson said: “We are building the busway in order to improve journey times across the Luton and Dunstable conurbation. We apologise for any inconvenience caused during the ongoing construction programme.”
Motorists are advised to follow the signed diversion route via Dunstable Road and Chaul End Lane and to allow extra time for their journeys.
On Sunday April 21 there will be no vehicle access into Station Road and lane closures in Guildford Street between Bridge Street and Mill Street from 8am-6pm to allow for completion of a new footpath and traffic island.
Traffic heading south in Old Bedford Road and Guildford Street will only be able to turn right into Mill Street.
A full list of updated roadworks connected with the busway is available on the Council’s website at www.luton.gov.uk/busway.
