Luton Airport’s drop off charge has gone up from £1 to £2.
The new charge came into effect yesterday (Tuesday), with the time allowed in the drop off zone extended from 10 to 15 minutes.
On the airport’s website, passengers are warned that staying longer than the permitted time will incur a fine of £80, as will dropping off passengers “on the approach roads, roundabout, or bus lane leading up to the airport terminal”.
The airport hit the headlines when it introduced the £1 charge in 2009.
A free drop off facility for 30 minutes is available at the mid-term car park, a two-minute bus ride from the terminal, the airport’s website says.
