Shoppers were serenaded by brass band music at the opening of the first ever Salvation Army furniture shop in Wellington Street, Luton, on Thursday.
After a special opening ceremony including a blessing from The Salvation Army’s
Divisional Commander, Major Paul Main, and a performance from The Salvation Army band, the shop’s team of staff and volunteers welcomed a crowd of customers eager to have first pick of the affordable furniture on sale in store.
The shop is the first furniture-only store anywhere in the country for Salvation Army
Trading Company, and features a brand new shop front design. The company’s shop
in the Arndale Centre will remain open to sell clothes, bric-a-brac, books and toys.
Staff at the shop will be very grateful for any furniture or household items they can spare - although they can’t accept televisions.
