A member of staff was hit with a hammer during a robbery at the Nisa Store in Ravenhill Way last night (March 24).
Three men entered the store and threatened staff at around 8.25pm, and forced them to open the safe from which they took a large amount of cash.
Police officers, dogs and a helicopter were used to search the area minutes after incident but no one was arrested.
The offenders were desecribed as one white man, one black man, and one man of unknown ethnicity, all wearing balaclavas.
Det Sgt Simon Hancock said: “The offenders hit a 21-year--old member of staff with a hammer during this incident and he has been left shocked and with bruised hands.
“We believe one of the offenders left the scene along Drayton Road and another was possibly seen in gardens in Holkam Close. I urge anyone who saw anything suspicious in this area to come forward and help with this investigation and we would also ask anyone who has found any discarded items of clothing in the area to also come forward and assist with this investigation.”
