ANGRY residents of a quiet Luton cul-de-sac handed a petition to councillors at a meeting on Monday night in protest against plans for more new houses to be built on their doorstep.
Beseiged homeowners in Leyhill Drive, close to Farley Hill, are already up in arms at towering flats that are currently being built on the corner of Luton Road and Farley Hill and directly overlook their homes and gardens.
And they are now incredulous at plans to build a further 14 dwellings on the site of the old Barn Owl pub, a development that they say will see their quiet close completely surrounded by new homes.
A group of residents handed over a petition against the plans, which are still in their early stages, at the Farley ward meeting on Monday.
One resident, who did not wish to be named, said: “We’re not impressed.
“This is a private, quiet little cul-de-sac and soon we could be completely surrounded by new developments.
“We’re annoyed because the council only sent letters to half the close to say that a planning application had been put in.”
