A cannabis factory was discovered at a house in Oak Road during a police raid yesterday.

Acting on information from the public, Community Support Officers attended the address and found 20 plants and a hydroponics lighting system which had been fitted in the property.

An electrician had to be called as the electrical supply to the property had been tampered with and was found to be hazardous.

Scenes of Crime Officers also attended the property and a 43 year old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of abstracting electricity.

He has now been released without charge and investigations are ongoing.

Police Sergeant Pauline Leng, who is based at Luton Police Station, said: “Clues a property may be used for the cultivation of cannabis include permanently drawn curtains or blinds, strong smells and different people visiting. We would never encourage anyone to try to gain access to these places as they can be dangerous. If anyone has any suspicions about a property in their area I would recommend they contact the police immediately so we can take all necessary precautions to protect and keep the public safe.”
