Here’s a compulsory event on the carnival calendar for mardi gras lovers of every level.

Next week Luton’s UK Centre for Carnival Arts is hosting its second Carnival Archive Project conference.

Titled Here’s One We Made Earlier, it promises to be a fascinating and uplifting celebration of its heritage.

Chaired by Hilary Carty, the two-day event will bring together success stories, keynote speeches from leading speakers from the heritage and archive sector and some of the UK’s leading carnival artists.

There’ll also be lots of fun in the form of samba and calypso music, a Brazilian samba dance workshop, poetry from John Hegley, award-winning carnival costumes, processions, delicious food and much, much more.

Spokesperson Tola Dabiri said: “The Carnival Archive Project has been amazing.

“The conference will be a real celebration of all that has been accomplished over the past 18 months. It will allow the team to share their experiences and offers everyone the chance to soak up the fun of carnival.”

The conference takes place from 10am to 4pm on Friday and Saturday, March 16 and 16.
