Cheaper energy for Luton residents

How does saving £60 - £200 a year on your energy bills sound?

Luton Borough Council has joined a national initiative to help households who are experiencing fuel poverty negotiate cheaper energy bills.

The scheme involves 15 other local authorities and works by means of a reverse auction where energy suppliers will be invited to bid the lowest price to supply the energy to all those signed up for the scheme. Residents will then be sent an offer to switch provider at new energy rates.

Cllr Hazel Simmons, Leader of Luton Borough Council, said: “It is freezing at the moment yet many local families are finding it hard to heat their homes. This is a great opportunity to get cheaper energy by simply registering your details. Please hurry as registration closes very shortly.”

To register for the scheme, go to www.luton.gov.uk and click on ‘Sign up to help get cheaper energy prices for Luton’. Registrations close at midnight on 15 December.
