A man broke into Stopsley Working Men’s Club and threatened a woman with a bottle as he tried to steal money yesterday (December 5).
The incident happened between 5pm and 5.45pm, when the 60-year-old victim entered the office in the bar area of the Putteridge Road club with a bag of change for the till.
The man had broken in via a ground floor window, and was lying in wait in the office area for one of the keyholders to arrive. When the woman entered the office, the burglar threatened her with bottle and demanded money.
The woman made a grab for the man and he ran off empty-handed out of the fire door and down the front of the Club on Putteridge Road.
The man is white, about 30 years old, well-built/stocky, about 5ft 8ins tall, and was wearing a dark woollen hat, red scarf pulled over his lower face, a camel coloured jumper and dark trousers.
