EDL leader charged with mortgage fraud

English Defence League leader Stephen Lennon has been charged with mortgage fraud, Bedfordshire Police say.

He was among six people to be charged following a fraud investigation by the force.

Mr Lennon, 30, also known as Tommy Robinson, is currently on remand in Wandsworth Prison for a separate, unrelated offence.

A police spokesman said he had been charged with three counts of conspiracy to commit fraud by false representation in relation to a mortgage application.

The others charged were:

Stephen Vowles, 24, of Heron Drive, Luton, with two counts of conspiracy to commit fraud by false representation in relation to a mortgage application, two counts of false accounting, possession of cocaine with intent to supply, being concerned in the supply of class A drugs to another, and money laundering:

Neil Goodwin, 28, of Chalkdown, Luton, with one count of possession of criminal property;

Lisa Moore, 26, of Newbury Close, Silsoe, with one count of conspiracy to commit fraud by false representation in relation to a mortgage application, and one of false accounting;

Anjee Darcy, 30, of Hardwick Green, Luton, with two counts of conspiracy to commit fraud by false representation in relation to a mortgage application, and one of false accounting;

Elliott Gale, 28, of Anglian Close, Watford, with one count of money laundering.

All are due to appear before St Albans Magistrates Court on Friday, December 7.
