A slew of cuts to public services is to be considered Luton Borough Council’s executive committee.
Included in the agenda for tomorrow night (Thursday) are cuts to bin collections, school transport, school uniform grants, grass cutting, highways maintenance, bus passes, street cleaning.
The council anticipates it can save £1 million by making bin collections weekly, rather than fortnightly.
The latest cuts could see more than 270 jobs lost, with 200 going in the environment and regeneration department alone, where 100 posts have already been cut, as services such as planning, environmental health, trading standards and building control are reduced.
