An arrest has been made following a violent car robbery involving a knife in Houghton Regis in the early hours of Saturday morning (October 27).
The 17-year-old male victim was getting into his car in Clarkes Way at about 4am after visiting a friend when he was approached by two males who demanded he hand over his keys and made threats of violence.
When the teenager refused he was punched in the face and threatened with a knife – at this point the pair took his keys and fled in his Ford fiesta along the High Street.
Police officers pursued the erratically-driven vehicle as it travelled from Dunstable into Luton. The victim said that he did not believe the offenders were even old enough to drive.
The two offenders then dumped the vehicle in Poynters Road and made off on foot towards Drayton Road.
The offenders were both white males, one about 5ft 6ins tall, of slim build wearing a dark hooded top. There was no further description of the second offender.
Det Con Surfaz Hussein, investigating, is keen to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the robbery, or the offenders fleeing after the car was abandoned.
