EVERYONE knows someone who’s been affected by cancer.

That’s why Tesco has partnered Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life for the past 11 years and why they’ll be fielding a 15-strong team from Tesco Metro in the Mall at the Stockwood Park event next month.

Personnel manager Rosina Drummey said: “RFL means a great deal to our staff.

“It’s always inspirational, emotional and great fun for both participants and their supporters.

“The event raises money to fight more than 200 different cancers and we’d encourage everyone in Luton to register to help make this the best year yet.”

In addition to backing RFL, the supermarket chain has also chosen Cancer Research UK as its charity of the year for 2012.

It hopes to raise £10 million for projects looking into early diagnosis so that more people can survive the disease by receiving treatment in time for it to be successful.

RFL takes place at Stockwood Park on Sunday, June 24.

Event manager Becky Ryczowski said: “The atmosphere is electric with women from all walks of life coming together to make a difference.

“The battle against cancer never stops so we need you to sign up now to start raising money for ground-breaking research to save more lives.”
