A DRAMATIC Luton News headline was the inspiration behind author Deanna Maclaren’s latest novel, Azur Allure.
But as we reported in our April 11 edition, Deanna couldn’t remember when she’d seen it, only that it had caught her attention on an easyJet flight en route to her home in the south of France.
We asked eagle-eyed readers to contact us if they knew who was involved in the original story, about a young mum and her baby being rescued from a first floor window.
Former Luton News sleuth Wes Smith – currently editor of the Hemel Hempstead Gazette – wrote the original piece.
But although he has the cutting – ‘Husband catches pregnant wife in blaze plunge drama’ – no names are mentioned and it isn’t dated.
Our intrepid hack was mortified that his ‘meticulous’ filing system appeared to have failed on this occasion.
All we do know is that the drama unfolded in Chiltern Rise, some time after July 2002.
So we’re posing the question once more: Can you tell us the names of the young mum-to-be and her baby who were rescued after the suspected arson attack?
Our details are on page 2.
