A RALLYING cry has been issued by Cancer Research UK Race for Life organisers.
They’re looking to recruit volunteers for the event at Stockwood Park on Sunday June 24.
Event organiser Becky Ryczowski said: “Race for Life is women-only but we’d like the support of men too.
“It’s all of us versus cancer so we need the whole community to lend a hand to join the fight.”
Volunteers are required for leaflet distribution prior to the Race and on the day itself there will be a myriad tasks – everything from marshalling to managing the information marquee and handing out medals.
Anyone who comes forward will gain practical hands-on experience, working with people from all walks of life, with the added bonus of contributing to a seriously worthwhile cause.
Becky said: “We welcome men and women of all ages and abilities.
“They don’t need to know anyone who’s taking part –they’ll be doing their bit simply by joining our squad.”
She added: “Our volunteers have a great time working with members of the community to create a hugely successful fundraising event, enabling thousands of women and their supporters to rise vital funds for Cancer Research UK’s pioneering work.”
Volunteers will receive a special T-shirt.
